A LAND OF BEAUTY AND POTENTIAL

Cameroon is a nation of extraordinary beauty, rich in natural resources, and home to vibrant and resilient communities. Often referred to as “Africa in miniature,” it boasts diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to breath-taking savannas, and a wealth of cultural heritage that reflects its dynamic and resilient people.

Despite its natural wealth and potential, many Cameroonians face significant challenges. Approximately 23% of the population lives below the international poverty line of $2.15 per day*. While official youth unemployment is reported at about 6.40%, many young people struggle to find stable, meaningful work, often turning to low-paying, informal or precarious jobs to make a living***.

Educational attainment is also a challenge. While the gross primary school enrollment rate is 110.7%**, the transition rate from primary to lower secondary school is around 60% for both boys and girls, with only 41.98% of girls and 45.80% of boys completing lower secondary education****.

This socio-economic context often forces children to exit the formal education system prematurely, leaving them without the necessary skills to enter the workforce. Consequently, many are compelled to accept low-paying, arduous and often exploitative jobs.

UNLOCKING CAMEROON’S POTENTIAL

Unlocking this potential requires clear, mission-driven strategies that integrate education, innovation and sustainable development. By equipping individuals with the skills to thrive in an evolving economy, fostering entrepreneurship and addressing environmental sustainability, we can pave the way for a more inclusive and resilient future.
